October 2023 book releases is a new series that I’m actually starting this month. I’ve noticed that I’m a little out of the loop when it comes to new books and what’s coming out. Since I’m a book blogger and I have an audience who obviously loves to read, I feel like I’m doing a disservice to both of us.
I’m sure neither one of us needs more books (yes we do) but it’s always great to figure out what new books you can try reading next.

But before I start talking about it how do you guys feel about kids reading horror as long as it is age appropriate? I’m assuming if you’re here then you’re at least somewhat okay with it. Hey everyone and welcome to Owl Book World! Today I’m wanting to talk about social horror books. It seems like this is a horror subgenre that is easily growing and becoming popular.
More movies with these sorts of topics are being made along with books as well. This is actually probably a good thing because these topics should very well be brought up.
The only thing about having these topics in the horror genre is that the horror genre seems to really push things that aren’t that good. So if you do decide to read social horror books then make sure you prepare yourself. These types of books can come with just a few trigger warnings or they can come with a lot.

I don’t know if you’re anything like me but I love learning about cults. I’m not completely sure what it is but I enjoy it. It’s probably because I always want to learn how people fall for it. It’s not that I don’t think I wouldn’t fall for it myself but how I can actively avoid it. So, that’s why I’m creating this list of books about cults.
Granted this list is full of fictional books but those are the ones that I actually like to start off with. I’m a lot bigger on fictional books than I am on nonfiction. If any of you guys are interested in a nonfiction list then let me know in the comments.

If you’re here then I’m assuming you love supernatural books! I don’t just mean books based on the supernatural series.
Some of the books I’m including are scary supernatural books, while others are more fantasy-based. Either way, all of these books have something supernatural about them one way or another.
Supernatural books have always been a staple in my life. I can’t even remember when I started watching them and reading them.
To be honest I don’t know if I really believe in it but I do love reading about it. It’s hard to imagine what’s really there in life after death. Is there really anything? Or are we just all fascinated with something that we don’t know much about except we all go through it.

Are you an introvert and want to feel less alone? Sometimes it’s really hard for us introverts to make any friends therefore some of us have to rely on books.
I know I know some of you are wondering why you should read books about characters that are similar to you. It’s understandable for some readers to want to read about someone different than them but I always love reading books about introverts because it makes me feel less alone.
Don’t get me wrong though. I know there are TONs of introverts out there, but I know how hard it can be for any of us to make friends. So, to me reading books like this is very comforting. There are times it makes me feel like I can do just about anything despite not wanting to get out of the house.

Reading about eating disorders can be a really hard thing to read about. I should know because I went through it back in high school. They can be a huge trigger warning because it brings those feelings back. Despite that, I do think books about eating disorders are very important.
If you don’t have anyone in your life that has dealt with this sort of thing, then please read some of these books. Who knows you might eventually come across someone who is dealing with it. These books might even help you figure out the best ways to talk to them.

Summer is almost here even though it already feels like it’s here. At least it feels like it does here in the South. With the weather getting up to almost ninety degrees it is HOT!! So, why not go ahead and create a summer horror books list? These are some of the best summer horror books to read by the pool or on the beach.
I can’t help but be happy that summer horror books are a thing. Horror is one of my favorite genres, but I don’t always want to read the ones that revolve around Halloween and fall. I’m sure some of you guys are the same way too.

I know most of you guys are probably wondering why exactly am I creating a books about school shootings list. They are horrible situations that seem to be a pretty common thing in America now. I hate to admit that it seems to be a more common thing. It shouldn’t be happening at all but it does.
So, why am I doing this post? I think reading about this kind of thing brings awareness to the situation. Everyone needs a little bit of awareness about it and how to handle it. Granted most of these books are fictional but they give you an idea about what happens and what they go through.
