Why you should learn to love yourself

So, why should you learn to love yourself? There are many reasons why you should learn to love yourself, and this is definitely something I’m going to have to listen to. One of the hardest people you can learn to love is yourself.

Isn’t that hard to believe? The hardest person for us to love is ourselves, yet we’re the most important person that we need to love. There’s no one more important than yourself. Yes, our family and our kids are important, but if you ultimately don’t love yourself, then you’re more than likely not taking care of yourself either. If you’re not taking care of yourself, that’s not going to be helpful for those around you that you love.

Why you should learn to love yourself

So, what do you think are some reasons why you should learn to love yourself?

The importance of self-love

As I googled this (I know, I know, I had to Google this), a lot actually came up on why you should learn to love yourself. As I looked it up, I realized that there are a lot of reasons. A lot of important reasons, if I’m honest.

One of the more obvious things is that it helps with your confidence. I’ve started realizing that confidence is very important in your life. There aren’t going to be many people out there who are going to befriend a Debbie downer. If you’re always down on yourself, then there aren’t going to be many people who will befriend you or want to be around you. People tend to avoid being around others who are somewhat negative, and, yes, a lack of confidence can come across as negative. That doesn’t mean you have to be cocky, though.

Being able to love yourself also helps you with setting boundaries with other people. It can also help you set boundaries with yourself. Something that I didn’t really think about is that loving yourself actually helps with anxiety and depression. It makes sense, though, but it never crossed my mind that they correlated.

Examples of self-love

Here are just a few examples of how you can practice self-love!

  • Daily gratitude
  • Accept your mistakes
  • Setting boundaries
  • Prioritizing yourself
  • Having self-compassion
  • Get excited about your accomplishments

Conclusion: Why you should learn to love yourself

There is such importance to loving yourself that I’m just now realizing myself. I don’t think that for most of my life I have ever really and truly loved myself. It would make sense because I have always had low self-esteem. I’ve always felt like something was wrong with me, and now it’s making me realize that I need to change.
