Can you guys believe that it’s almost August already? I know I can’t. I feel like 2024 has gone by fast. Almost in the blink of an eye. With that being said, there have been a lot of book releases this year and I’m sure there have been many books that have been released this year that you want to check out.

But here I am making trying to make your TBR longer!

August 2024 book releases

Here are the August 2024 book releases.

August 2024 book releases

Nearly all of these I’m pretty excited about and I can’t wait to get ahold of them! Let me know if there’s one that you are more excited about.

House of Glass

August 2024 book releases

It may be a while before I try to read this one. Not that it doesn’t sound good or doesn’t seem interesting, but the more I have been doing these types of posts the more I have come across books like these that are very similar.

But stories like this always catch my attention and I know I will eventually try reading it!

Here is what House of Glass is about!

House of Glass follows a family that on the outside looks perfect. On the inside, they have the perfect lie.

9 year old, Rose Barclay, witnessed the “possible” murder of her nanny. In the middle of all of this, her parents are going through a bitter divorce. So, she stops speaking through the stress of it all.

Stella Hudson is one of the best attorneys for children. She never takes on a client under thirteen because of their own set of traumatic cases but Stella’s mentor thinks that she’s the only one that can help.

As soon as she takes on the case and meets up with them, she realizes that the Barclay family is far more twisted and troubled than she originally thought. On top of that the house has a bit of an eerie feel to it.

The closer she gets to uncovering things the more she realizes she’s in danger. Everyone is a suspect.

Society of Lies

This is one that I got an advanced copy of and I will be reading it soon.

Hopefully, it’s as good as it sounds!

Here is what Society of Lies is about!

Maya is excited to return to Princeton for her reunion. It has been a decade since she graduated and now she is looking forward to seeing people she knew and talking about her college days. This year is even more special since her sister, Naomi, is graduating.

Maya’s dream weekend becomes her worst nightmare when she gets a phone call that Naomi is dead. The police told her that it was an accident, but Maya was sure there was more to it.

Maya pieces together the few months before her sister’s death and she starts to realize how much she was hiding. Naomi joined the most exclusive social club at the college despite Maya telling her not to. Maya thinks that she may have been tapped into the secret society within it too.

Maya uncovers a lot and it terrifies her that Naomi’s decision to follow her is what may have gotten her killed. She has always embellished that her time at Princeton was great even though it wasn’t. Her sister wasn’t the first person to have gotten killed there and the more Maya uncovers the more it takes her to the past and the secrets she kept when she was still a student there.

You Will Never Be Me

Now that social media is a big thing and influencers are on the rise, even more so than in the past, come books where we get thrillers and horror books about them.

I do kind of have to say that I’m here for it. Putting your life out there for everyone to see just means that negative things are going to be attracted your way.

Here is what You Will Never Be Me is about.

Meredith taught Aspen how to blossom on social media and she didn’t expect to be ditched as soon as she became big. No one can really blame Meredith for stalking her a little bit. It’s nothing serious. Just more like stalking Lite.

When Mer finds one of Aspen’s kids’ iPads, she takes it. She was lucky and now she has access to their calendar and to their social media accounts. She knows that hardly anyone else would be able to resist changing things a little and showing up when they have meetings with potential sponsors. She’s only wanting to take back what she deserves and what should have been hers.

On the other side, Aspen doesn’t know why her life is falling apart. She’s being dropped by sponsors, other influencers are ghosting her, and her husband seems to be disgusted by her. If she doesn’t figure out what is going on, she might lose it all.

Meredith suddenly goes missing and Aspen’s life goes crazy, especially when she starts getting mysterious threats. Will things fall into place with the both of them?

Blood Like Mine

August 2024 book releases

Blood Like Mine is another one of the August 2024 book releases that I will be adding to my TBR.

I don’t know what it is about books about serial killers that always seem to grab my attention and make me want to read them.

Here is what Blood Like Mine is about.

Rebecca is out and about one snowy night and winds up driving her van in a snowbank trying to avoid an elk. This only drives her further at the end of her rope. She’s out of money, out of food, and now she has to deal with her van. Despite all of this she is offered help by a man in a pickup truck and refuses.

For a couple of years now Special Agent Marc has been hunting down a horrible serial killer who drains victims’ blood before severing their spinal cords. He has left a horrible trail throughout the American West. The more he investigates the closer it brings him to Rebecca and her daughter and where they are hiding out.

One House Left

August 2024 book releases

I know I keep saying this but One House Left is another I will be adding to my TBR. Growing up I was always obsessed with Urban Legends and ghosts so this one is right up my alley.

Here is what One House Left is about.

Nate Campbell grew up as an afterthought because of Murder Road. It’s the street that’s cursed by a vengeful spirit called the Hiding Boy.

Every few years within six decades a different house on Murder Road has caught itself at the scene of a tragedy.

When Nate and his family move to a new town they are trying to outrun the curse. But when he gets there he’s pulled into an urban legend club. The ghost stories they tell in the club start to merge with what happened on Murder Road and he feels like there is nowhere to hide.

Rules for Ghosting

August 2024 book releases

Rules for Ghosting is probably the only one that I don’t care so much about but I know there are probably a lot of you who do!

Here is what Rules for Ghosting is about!

Ezra grew up in a funeral home. If that isn’t interesting enough she can see ghosts. It would probably have been easier if his grandfather’s ghost wasn’t there constantly giving him looks of disapproval. Nearly everyone there judges every choice that he makes. It’s not surprising that Ezra tries to run away from the family business.

When his dream job drops out from under him and his mom tells them she is running away he finds himself in the thick of it. With his parent’s marriage dissolving and the family business on the brink of ruin, Ezra decides to step in his mother’s shoes and help out. So that means long days seeing ghosts.

As he goes through all of this and tries to keep his family somewhat together he starts to realize that there is more than one way to be haunted.

Dark Fairy Tales you HAVE to add to your TBR

Growing up I always loved fairy tales. They took you to a different world and I loved that about them. I don’t think that will ever change. Now that I’m older I kind of want something darker and not so happy through the entire book. Hence why I’m creating this post on dark fairy tales. […]
