It may be a little while before I’m able to get to these books, but I’m so glad that I looked them up! These are 7 August book releases that I really look forward to reading.
For a while, I had been trying not to look all that much into it. Mostly because I tend to impulse buy stuff that I don’t need. Or things that I don’t need yet. Besides that, I have so many books on my bookshelf that I still haven’t read yet, and it’s becoming increasingly overwhelming. So, for the time being, I have to wait.
But pretty much all of these are ones that I can’t wait to get my hands on!

7 August Book Releases to add to your TBR
Just to give you a forewarning, I’m not huge on romance books. So, if you’re looking for those types of books, then you’re probably not going to like the selection I have here. Pretty all of them are going to be a variety of horror or thriller books.
I tend to do this because I talk about those two a lot on this blog. Part of me doesn’t want to stray away from that, so my audience doesn’t get the wrong idea of what genres I typically go for!
Here are just a few books that I’m pretty excited to read later on when I’m able to get the time.
We are all guilty here

I don’t know what it is about this story that caught my attention. Maybe it’s the fact that we truly think we know people when, in reality, we don’t. A lot of times, we don’t even fully know the people we live with. They could have other lives for all we know.
So, this is a concept I enjoy! What about you guys?
Here is what We are all Guilty Here is about.
North Falls is a small town where everyone knows everyone. That is, until the night of the fireworks, when two teenage girls disappear. This lights a fire under the whole town, but especially Officer Emmy Clifton. She turned away her best friend’s daughter when she needed help, and now, she has to take the initiative to bring her back.
As she goes through the clues that the girls left, she figures out that no one knew them, including her.
The Locked Ward

The Locked Ward is probably on the bottom of the list for me in regard to what I want to get to first. It does have a promising plot to it, though, so I know I will probably get to this one eventually.
Here is what The Locked Ward is about.
Georgia, who was adopted as a newborn, is accused of killing the biological daughter of her adoptee wealthy southern family.
Now she’s locked in the psychiatric ward where the most violent people are held. She has to stay there as she awaits trial. She’s barely talking, but when she does, she keeps telling her twin sister that she didn’t do it, and she has to get her out of there.
Amanda, her twin sister, doesn’t trust her. Unfortunately, she can’t just abandon her in such a menacing place. Is Georgia a victim of a very powerful family? Or is her sister a master manipulator?
Too Old for This

So, I kind of love the idea of this. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t typically think of serial killers in their old age. The only time I think of them is when they are active. In my head, most of them go to jail or probably die not long after their last kill. That’s mostly because when you’re a serial killer, most of them don’t have the drive to stop. That’s what information about them seems like anyway.
So, to me, this is kind of a cool idea. Getting a look at serial killers when they are older, even if it is fictional, is a bit funny and a cool idea. I can’t wait for this particular book on the August book releases.
Here is what I’m too old for: this is about.
Lottie thought this was all over with. Decades ago, she changed her identity and moved to a small town. Instead of committing crimes now, her most exciting nights are playing bingo and gossiping with her friends.
When an investigative journalist shows up at her house asking questions about her past, Lottie can’t have that. Getting away with murder while you’re young is already hard enough. This whole thing might be the death of her…
The Dead Husband Cookbook

I think The Dead Husband Cookbook is another that’s towards the bottom of the list. I think when I first saw the book, my mind went to she cooked her husband, huh. I know it seems weird, but that’s what kind of caught my attention. But once I realized that she possibly just killed him and took his life made me lose interest just a tiny bit.
I’m still excited to eventually read this one!
Here is what The Husband Cookbook is about.
Maria is a celebrity chef, a household name, and an inspiration. She has dozens of cookbooks and a weekly television show. She was once the timid wife of the famous chef Damien, but she stepped into the spotlight after he disappeared twenty years ago. It’s something that she’s never spoken about, at least not until now, when she announced that she’s looking for a publisher for her memoirs.
Why is she breaking her silence now? It’s also weird that she’s turning down seven-figure offers from huge publishing companies and decides to go with a small press. She decides to go with them under one condition, and that’s if it’s edited by Thea Woods. Thea has been a lifelong fan but has never met her. It’s something she can’t figure out herself, especially since she was planning on putting in her notice that day. When she’s at Maria’s farm to help work on the manuscript, she can’t hold her tongue about the famous husband who died under mysterious circumstances.
Joy Moody is Out of Time

Joy Moody is Out of Time sounds interesting! It seems like this is the type of thing that’s right up my alley, and I can’t wait to read it.
Here is what it’s about.
All of their lives, joy has been lying to the twins, Cassie and Andie. It started as a colorful tale to kind of explain how they came to live with her. She’s always meant to tell them the truth, and she thought she would have more time.
The twins have always believed that they had to stay hidden to stay safe. Joy told them that their 21st birthday is significant, and they will be able to step into their roles as daughters of the future revolution. Life will forever change for them. In a way, Joy was right, but not in the way that they expected. On their birthday, Joy is found dead, and the girls are nowhere near prepared for a world without their mother.
An Academy for Liars

I don’t know what it is about dark academia books that always catches my attention, but they do. I think it’s partly because I had a boring high school experience. When it comes to boarding schools or schools similar to them, I always want to read about them. I want to experience life through the kids since my school wasn’t all that interesting.
Here is what An Academy for Liars is about.
Lennon’s life is not going the way that she wants. That is, until she’s invited to take an entrance exam for Drayton College. It’s a school of magic that’s hidden in Savannah. She’s been chosen because she has the gift of persuasion and can use it to control others.
Once she passes the test, she learns how to master her power even though it’s taking a toll on her body and mind.
The longer she’s at this college, the more she starts to undercover its secrets and becomes even more disturbed by what she learns.
13 months haunted

13 Months Haunted is probably one of the top August book releases that I’m most excited for. The story seems creepy and interesting. It’s right up my alley, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one!
Here is what 13 Months Haunted is about.
Piper works for the library and is in charge of helping with the local middle school. Right away, she’s able to tell that there’s something weird about the new girl in eighth grade. Avery refuses to touch any of the technology. She won’t even touch the computers in the library. Every single day, her mom comes to the school with her and won’t even leave her side.
Rumors are going around the school that Piper hears from the kids and some of the parents. Everyone says that Avery’s mom is a witch. They also say that her sister and father were affected by something supernatural, a strange virus.
After seeing how lonely Avery is, Piper tries to be friends with her but quickly realizes that it could be the worst decision she has ever made.
