About You’re Family Now

Mass has spent most of his adult life being a chaser. Chasing his next job and chasing women. That is, until he got an amazing new job and then met Amelia. He fell head over heels for her. They eventually get married, but there’s only one rule. He must love her and her family. Should be easy, right? As soon as they get married, things start to change. Amilia isn’t the same woman he first met, and she changes fast. She and her family whisper behind his back. What exactly are they talking about, and what is up Amelia’s sleeve?

What I thought

I picked up You’re Family Now because I thought the cover looked interesting. It seemed right up my alley, so why not? Part of me wishes that I didn’t, though. I pretty much kept reading because I really wanted to know what the hell was going on with that family. Well… to me stick with this story until the end wasn’t all that worth it to me.

For startes I can’t pin point what exactly about the writing style of the story that peeved me so much, but it did. Maybe it’s because the writing seemed to have no depth to it and was very simplistic.

On top of that, this whole family and getting married so fast was just so weird to me. I get it… That’s the whole point of the story. The family is supposed to be weird as hell, or there wouldn’t be much of a story. But the oddities of them and how things changed almost immediately after getting married just wouldn’t cut for me.

Also, I would be pissed about having to move in with my in-laws. For a short period of time, I might be okay with it, but the new wife was always sabotaging things so they didn’t have to move, and she was oddly clingy to her family.

On top of that, the timing of things in the story didn’t seem to add up. Time was passing by a lot faster in the book than it seemed as you are reading it. The pacing of the story isn’t terrible, but the timing just seems really off. I wish I liked this book so much more than I did, especially since it seemed so interesting.
