Young Adult Vampire Books that really bites

Kaili

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I haven’t noticed many vampire books since Twilight. This is with young adult vampire books and adult vampire books as well. It seems like they tried selling Twilight, but we haven’t heard much about another vampire book since. At least I really haven’t heard anything.

Who knows maybe I just really haven’t been paying attention and there have been tons of vampire books that got a lot of hype after Twilight. I wish I had known about them to start off with! Most of these books I’m actually just finding out about so hopefully soon I can get to some of them.

Young Adult Vampire Books

So, not that long ago I realized over the past few years I really haven’t heard much about any type of vampire book. This is with young adult vampire books and adult vampire books. At least I haven’t heard anything since Twilight.

Once I had this realization I knew I had to change that and do some research on vampire reads. If I’m going to be honest Twilight wasn’t really all that great and I know I need to change things up a bit.

Till We Become Monsters

Young Adult Vampire Books

So, this is really the first time I’m actually hearing about Till We Become Monsters. I don’t know how I didn’t hear about it a lot sooner since I really love books that are on the scary side.

It does make me wonder if this book wasn’t really marketed well because lately, I have been finding out about more and more horror books.

Here is what Till We Become Monsters is about.

Monsters exist and Korin Perrin knew this as truth because his grandmother told him so. Korin, raised in the shadow of his older brother Davis, is an imaginative child who believes his brother is a monster. After the death of their grandmother, seven-year-old Korin, blaming Davis for her demise, tries to kill him. Sixteen years following the attempt on Davis’ life, racked with guilt, Korin comes to terms with the fact that Davis may not be the one who is the monster after all.

Past wrongs needing to be righted, Korin agrees to a hunting trip with his brother and father. But they, along with two friends, never make it to their destination. An accident along the way separates the hunters in the dark forests of Minnesota during the threat of an oncoming blizzard. As the stranded hunters search for each other and safety, an ancient evil wakes.

The Fell of Dark

YA Vampire Books

The Fell of the Dark actually really caught my attention. So, a while back I fell in love with the show True Blood, and ever since I have been wanting to read books where the characters know about the vampires that are around them.

I do know that True Blood was based off its own book series and I have been meaning to get to that as well!

The only thing August Pfeiffer hates more than algebra is living in a vampire town. Located at a nexus of mystical energy fields, Fulton Heights is practically an electromagnet for supernatural drama. And when a mysterious (and annoyingly hot) vampire boy arrives with a cryptic warning, Auggie suddenly finds himself at the center of it. An ancient and terrible power is returning to the earthly realm, and somehow Auggie seems to be the only one who can stop it.

Do you enjoy books where the characters know about the monsters in their lives?

Thirsty

The synopsis actually makes me curious. The author of Thirsty must have made new “rules” when it comes to vampires and how you can turn.

This is probably one that I will have to check out soon and see if I enjoy it!

Here is what Thirsty is about!

All Chris really wants is to be a normal kid, to hang out with his friends, avoid his parents, and get a date with Rebecca Schwartz. Unfortunately, Chris appears to be turning into a vampire. So while his hometown performs an ancient ritual that keeps Tch’muchgar, the Vampire Lord, locked in another world, Chris desperately tries to save himself from his own vampiric fate. He needs help, but whom can he trust? A savagely funny tale of terror, teen angst, suspense, and satire from celebrated FEED author M. T. Anderson.

Boys that Bite

Boys that Bite actually reminds me a lot of Mortal Instruments! This is one I really need to check because I love when there’s a whole world revolving around monsters.

Here is what Boys That Bite is about!

Two sisters—as different as the sun and the rain. For one, getting into the Blood Coven is to die for. But for the other, getting out could be lethal…

When Sunny McDonald gets dragged to Club Fang by her twin sister Rayne, she doesn’t expect to find anything besides a bunch of Goth kids playing at being vampires. But when some guy mistakes Sunny for her dark-side-loving sister and bites her on the neck, she finds out that his fangs are real—and deadly.

Now, Sunny has less than a week to figure out how to reverse the bite, or else she’s going to end up as the perpetually undead. And not only will she be a vampire, but she’ll also be bonded to Magnus—the bloodsucker who bit her—forever. And forever is a really long time…

The Lost Girls

This is another I need check out pretty soon because just the name alone reminds me of The Lost Boys. I’m pretty sure that was intentional. At least in a way I hope it was!

Here is what The Lost Girls is about.

When Elton Irving turned Holly Liddell into a vampire in 1987, he promised her eternal love. But thirty-four years later, Elton has left her, her hair will be crimped for the rest of immortality, and the only job she can get as a forever sixteen-year-old is the midnight shift at Taco Bell.

Holly’s afterlife takes an interesting turn when she meets Rose McKay and Ida Ripley. Having also been turned and discarded by Elton—Rose in 1954, and Ida, his ex-fiancée, in 1921—they want to help her and ask for her help in return.

Rose and Ida are going to kill Elton before he turns into another girl. Though Holly is hurt and angry with Elton for tossing her aside, she’s reluctant to kill her ex, until Holly meets Parker Kerr—the new girl Elton has set his sights on—and feels a quick, and nerve-wracking attraction to her.

Glass Houses

Young Adult Vampire Books

I’m so glad that more books are coming out that follow college-age kids. It seems like a lot of books go from high school students to someone in their mid-twenties. Not a lot of books show the love for adults in their early twenties who might be in college.

Here is what Glass Houses is about.

From the author of the popular Weather Warden series comes the debut of an exciting new series set in Morganville, Texas, where you would be well-advised to avoid being out after dark.

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates doesn’t show any signs of life, but they’ll have Claire’s back when the town’s deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood. Will she be able to face the town’s terror or will she drown like everyone else?

The Immortal Rules

Young Adult Vampire Books

At first I really wanted to read The Immortal Rules but now I’m beginning to question if I would like it or not. Don’t ask me why I’m starting to question myself but I am!

The Story does sound interesting enough though.

Here is what The Immortal Rules is about.

To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness.

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rapids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for again.

Enter Julie Kagawa’s dark and twisted world as an unforgettable journey begins.

Go Hunt Me

I really wish this book was on Kindle because right now I’m not willing to spend the money on a hardcover of it. But I love books that follow those that are doing a little bit of filming. Maybe it’s because I love movies and I love reading and watching about movies basically being made!

Here is what Go Hunt Me is about!

Alex Rush is ready for the trip of a lifetime.

She and her friends have made some creepily awesome films together throughout high school, so with only a few months left before they go their separate ways for college, they’re determined to make the best one yet: an epic short film that reimagines the story of Dracula, filmed on location at a remote castle in Romania.

But when they get there, it’s not quite the majestic setting they planned for. Menacing weapons line the walls, the twisted halls are easy to get lost in, and with no connection to the outside world, the group is unexpectedly off the grid. After just a few hours spent under its roof, Alex and her friends have no trouble imagining how this dark, terrifying castle inspired one of the most enduring horror novels of all time.

Only soon they no longer have to use their imaginations to understand the location’s terrifying history—just as they get the film’s first shot rolling, one of Alex’s friends disappears, and she’s nearly certain she saw a cloaked stranger lurking in the shadows. As more members of the group begin to meet an untimely demise, Alex is desperate to stop the bloodshed, even if it means facing a monster she never thought would be let loose.

In Every Generation

In Every Generation is apart of the books that I actually want to try to read. Even though I really enjoyed Twilight at the time I do think it kind of ruined the whole young adult vampire books. It mad it cheesy and changed vampires some for the years to come.

I hope with the next couple of years it will redefine itself.

Here is what In Every Generation is about.

A new Slayer for a new generation…

Frankie Rosenberg is passionate about the environment, a sophomore at New Sunnydale High School, and the daughter of the most powerful witch in Sunnydale history. Her mom, Willow, is slowly teaching her magic on the condition that she uses it to better the world. But Frankie’s happily quiet life is upended when new girl Hailey shows up with news that the annual Slayer convention has been the target of an attack, and all the Slayers—including Buffy, Faith, and Hailey’s older sister Vi—might be dead. That means it’s time for this generation’s Slayer to be born.

But being the first-ever Slayer-Witch means learning how to wield a stake while trying to control her budding powers. With the help of Hailey, a werewolf named Jake, and a hot but nerdy sage demon, Frankie must become the Slayer, prevent the Hellmouth from opening again, and find out what happened to her Aunt Buffy, before she’s next.

The Afterlife of the Pary

So, I don’t know how I feel about The Afterlife of the Party. The synopsis is kind of giving me Twilight vibes where the vampires are being humanized. I think that’s part of my problem. I don’t want the vampires to be humanized because they aren’t human.

Who knows maybe you’ll enjoy it? Here is what The Afterlife of the Party is about.

When my best friend Skyler told me about this party in Hollywood Hills, I was less than enthused. As it turned out, my feelings were more than justified. That party ruined my life.

Tansy didn’t even want to go to the party. It’s hard enough living in one of your best friend’s shadows and secretly being in love with your other best friend.

And now she’s leaving it a vampire.

Now her best friend Skyler is stuck on the road trip from hell, on tour as a groupie with a literal band of vamps. Tansy sets out with Vaughn, her other BFF turned maybe more, to save Skylar’s life and take down the band. But when they find themselves in the middle of a vampire war, will Tansy be able to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her friends?

Interview with the Vixen

So, I watched the first season of Riverdale and then couldn’t watch it anymore after that. I think the first season really peeked and then after I just didn’t like it anymore.

I should probably try again sometime but it may be a while. It does make me wonder if I would like the comics so much better than the show. Ya know the book is always better!

Here is what Interview with the Vixen is about!

Everyone thinks that Veronica Lodge has it all: the rich parents and the big house. The popular jock crush. The perfect best friend. But all that changes when she’s bitten by an ancient vampire named Theodore Finch.

Theodore is turning all of Riverdale’s most powerful citizens into vampires-including Veronica’s parents. But that’s only the beginning of what he has planned… Veronica escapes from becoming one of Theodore’s minions, but the lives of the entire town are at stake. Veronica can’t defeat him alone.

With some help from her friends, Veronica discovers how to turn everyone back to normal-including herself. All they have to do is kill Theodore. But Veronica’s bloodlust is getting harder to control. Can Betty, Archie, Dilton, and Cheryl figure out how to stop Theodore and save Veronica before it’s too late?

The Archie Horror series contains all-new, original stories that fans of horror AND fans of Riverdale will die for!

This was such a fun post to make! Granted it has kind of made me realize that I have been slacking off when it comes to vampire books. To be honest I probably haven’t read a vampire book since high school when I had actually read Twilight. I know I know I should be ashamed!

Hopefully, you find another book to read soon. I hope I’m not the only one who hasn’t read any young adult vampire books for a while now!
