About You Better Watch Out

There are forty-eight hours until Christmas, and Jessica has just woken up. Her eyes are blurry, her ears are ringing, and she’s in terrible pain. The last thing she remembers is going for a run and being hit in the head by something or someone. Now she’s stranded in an abandoned town with five strangers in the same situation as her. All she knows is that she needs to escape, but that becomes impossible as they are being hunted down one by one.

What I thought

I have had this book on my TBR for a while. I’m lucky enough to have gotten an ARC (advanced reader’s copy) of this one, but I wound up getting in a reading rut. I’m so glad that I wound up reading this one thought.

It’s not unique to have a game with people who have done bad things, but I feel like this story handled it uniquely. The fact that they have been taken to an abandoned town with traps all set up for them. Let me tell you… There are some brutal deaths in this book.

My only thing is that I don’t know if I would consider this horror. I don’t know what it is about real people doing horrible stuff that makes me automatically go to thriller rather than anything horror. Where is the line with all of this?

With that being said, though, I think the story was well done and so were the characters. If I’m going to be honest, part of me thinks this would be a good idea for the worst of the worst in real life. I’m probably one of the who think this way.

I’m almost positive that a lot of people are going to be pissed with this story and its ending. I can practically guarantee many of you won’t guess what comes next.

The characters are well-developed, and some of them are a bit simplistic. I’m glad the main characters were smarter and actually thought things through. Otherwise, it probably would not have been the best story to read.
