Journaling has been around for ages. Some use it to talk about their feelings or how their days went. Some are using it for memory keeping, and I’m sure there are so many more things out there that people use their journals for. So what should you journal about?
For me, I use my journal for a combination of things. I tend to forget things a lot anymore. I don’t know if it’s Mom brain or what, but I like using the journal to remember things. But I also use it to kind of vent about things that I’m not happy about.
Journaling has many uses, and it can be helpful in so many ways. I use it for my mental health, but it can definitely be used for other things if you don’t deal with anxiety or depression!
Journaling ideas for beginners
For starters, you’ll need to pick out a journal that you like. Make sure to take your time with it and pick something you feel like you really connect with. That’s how I always use mine, and I haven’t given up on mine once. If you plan on picking a fancy and pretty one, then make sure you’re actually going to use it. I know there are a lot of people who get journals like this, but then don’t want to touch it.
Journals can be used for self-reflections or reflections about your days. They can be used to answer questions to figure things out and get you started. Questions are a great way to get started if you don’t know how. There’s also creative journaling. A lot of people use journaling like this and draw in a long with writing things down. If you’re a creative person, then I feel like this would be a great use for you.
Creative journaling might be something that I try leaning towards here soon because I want to get back into drawing and learn how to draw well again. Who knows, this might be the thing for you, too.

Journaling has helped out a lot through life. It helps allow me to vent and let go of things that have been bothering me. This especially helps when I don’t have anyone to talk to. It can also help guide you with a lot of things and figuring out what life areas to focus on when you’re setting goals.
Journaling can be a creative outlet in so many ways, too! I get it if you already know that journaling doesn’t help you, but if you’re on the fence, you should really give it a try!
