About True Colors
Caitlyn has always sailed through life. She’s not about the drama and tries not to ruffle any feathers. But when she has a random encounter with a homeless man, everything changes. Now she’s able to see behind people’s masks. Because of this, she realizes her life isn’t simple and her high school is full of secrets. She can’t ignore her gift, and now she needs to figure out why, under her friend’s mask, she looks so terrified. Will her new ability lead her to new dangers?
What I thought
I’m going to be honest. I bought this book a while back, and I’m not really sure why. Don’t get me wrong, the book isn’t bad, but romance isn’t my thing. So I’m surprised I picked the book up in the first place.
I do have to say that I am glad that I picked it up. The story overall was a nice pick-me-up to get out of my reading rut.
Being able to see under people’s “masks” is an interesting concept, though. This is not something I don’t think I would have ever thought about. So, to me, the story is pretty creative and unique.
I think, as of right now, I’m just not a huge fan of Caitlyn’s personality. That might change the more I get into the series. I also kind of wish there was a bedtime frame for all of this. You don’t go from not wanting to cause a scene to causing a scene.
I know time passes by in the story, but everything seems to be going so quickly.
With that being said, the story is pretty fast-paced and keeps your attention. I’m going to be honest, there are a few side characters that I wound up liking a bit more than the main character.
Even though this book was somewhere in the middle for me on a rating scale, I’m more than likely going to check out the other books in the series. I just have to know what kind of mess Caitlyn gets herself into and if she and her hot next-door neighbor stick together.
If you enjoyed this book review, then maybe you will like this one too.
