About soulmatch
After World War 3 two hundred years ago, the world is at peace all because of the soul identification system. Now every eighteen-year-old has to go to the government to learn about their past lives. This whole process is called a kirling, and it’s terrifying. The good souls leave with a career path and their inheritance. But the bad souls get taken to jail.
For Sivon, it’s cerve wracking because she knows that her soul is different, she just doesn’t know how. Turns out she was right and her soul is new. Now she’s being thrust into some extreme circumstances and fame she never asked for.
What I thought
What if you lived in a world full of old souls only to find out that you are a new one? Everyone who surrounds you knows who they are, yet you’re here having to figure that out for yourself.
First off, I want to say thank you to Simon and Schuster for the advanced copy of Soulmatch. I am so glad that they sent this my way. I’m going to be honest, though, I never would have picked this book out if I hadn’t gotten it through the mail as a surprise. First look, and I would have just assumed that it was romance, and I never would have thought twice about picking it up. This truly goes to show that I need to step out of my comfort zone sometimes because, boy, I enjoyed this book.
However, I’m going to start with the cons first in this review. There’s not a whole lot of cons to this story for me, anyway. My only issue is that I feel like this could have been made into a duology or at least some sort of series. Granted, there’s a possibility that it is going to be turned into a series, but I mean this book itself could have been split into a series. Just the whole idea of reincarnation and being able to figure out who you were in a past life grabs my attention. This is something that has crossed my mind often, and if it were a possibility. So, as of right now, I would pick up just about any book that deals with reincarnation because of the fact that I always find it interesting.
Okay, now the pros. There are quite a few books out that that kind of deal with this topic, but Soulmatch kind of brings something new to it. For starters, the soul identification is cool and something I haven’t come across. It just sucks that some have to pay the price of past wrongdoings. But there’s also the soulmates. Not everyone has one, and they can show up in different ways. Kind of like twins being soulmates. It just brings a new twist that they all don’t have to be lovers.
I seriously cannot wait until Rebecca comes out with another book so I’m able to get my hands on it!
