Learn to be okay with yourself

This is honestly something that I really need to work on. For as long as I can remember, I have never been okay with myself. I have never been okay with myself, and I’ve never changed it. So, how do you learn to be okay with yourself?

So, how do we fix this? Well, why exactly don’t you feel okay with yourself? We’re all going to have different answers, even though there will be a few of you who will have similar answers.

I’m slowly starting to learn that life is too short to be worried about other people and not learning how to be okay with yourself. You are all that you have, so why not work on it? Pushing it away never works, and it always comes back in full force.

How to feel good about yourself

Not feeling good about yourself is a form of low self-esteem. Trust me, I know because I’m there right now. My entire life, I have been drowning in low self-esteem. I don’t have many friends, if I have any at all. Back in high school, I used to get sad all the time because it seemed like not many guys liked me in that way. I felt unattractive. At the time, I would get picked on a lot because there were a few guys who would avoid me like I was a plague. For some reason, I wound up being the “weird” girl just because I was quiet.

I’ve always been quiet and kept to myself a lot. I’ve never been able to relate to many kids my age, and maybe that has a lot to do with the trauma I dealt with as a kid.

So, how do we feel good about ourselves? I know people say not to change yourself, and in a way, yes, they are correct. You don’t need to change everything about yourself. You are great the way that you are. But if there’s something that bothers you about yourself and it’s something that you can actually change, then why not do it?

I’m uncomfortable with myself because of my weight. That’s at least one of the things. So in order for me to start feeling comfortable with myself, is by losing weight. I’m by no means saying that if you are a certain weight, then you need to feel uncomfortable with yourself and lose it. This just so happens to be one of the few things that I don’t like about myself in particular.

If there are things that you can’t change, then it’s time to learn to actually love them. One way to do this is by positive affirmations. Maybe I can go into more details about this in another post if you guys want it.

Learn how to be ok with yourself

No matter what age you are, being okay with yourself can be one of the hardest things to do. So, how do you learn how to be ok with yourself?

This is something that takes a lot of practice. I highly suggest doing affirmations. I will be doing this soon, but write your affirmations down on a sticky note or something and put them up on your bathroom mirror. That’s one place you always visit, and somewhere you can always see it. Make sure to repeat it every day. Do it multiple times a day if that’s what will work for you.

Work on small goals that are easy to push yourself to do. This will build up your confidence to work towards some of the bigger goals that you really want to work on. It’s all about learning how you can depend on yourself. It’s time to start depending on yourself, and it’s time to stop seeking outside validation as well.

Conclusion to learning how to be ok with yourself

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when you start this journey, don’t go into it expecting that it will magically fix itself in a matter of days. Also, depending on how bad it is for you, it may not fix itself in a year. This is a process, and it’s going to take some time to actually fix itsself.

Just try not to get discouraged and look at the positive side of things. Journaling about your progress is a good way to see how you’re coming along. Depending on what you’re trying to progress on can also be tracked with pictures! I really hope your journey to being okay with yourself works out for you. At least for your sake and your mental health’s sake!
