About Jack Stinger and the Haunting of Whitlock Manor
For Jack Stinger life isn’t as adventurous as it used to be. When rumors start going around school about strange things happening in the old house on Cemetary Hill catch his attention, he starts a bike club to check it out. When some of the members start to disagree with the rules the group starts to separate. Jack is determined to get to the bottom of things so he teams up with Daisy, his childhood friend and crush to investigate. When some of his friends start to go missing he has to ask his big brother for help. It doesn’t help that his brother doesn’t believe that the house is the reason for the disappearance.
What I thought
I am so glad that Phillip got a hold of me to read and review Jack Stinger and The Haunting of Whitlock Manor. I love a really good YA Horror book. The synopsis and the cover really caught my attention as well.
Supernatural type of books always catches my attention and I love a good ghost story.
Starting from Chapter 1 the story really caught my attention. It’s fast-paced and then really keeps your attention.
There are creepy aspects to the story that makes you wonder what will happen next. The way the story ends was very surprising. At least it was surprising in a good way. The story is kind of left open so I really hope that there’s going to be another book that comes out somewhat soon. For the most part, we follow more of Jack’s and Daisy’s perspectives than any of Jack’s other friends but we do get a little bit of their perspectives.
My only issue with Jack Stinger and the Haunting of Whitlock Manor is that Jack’s crush on Daisy is slightly weird. It’s mostly his thought process about her in certain areas that make him seem like a forty or fifty-year-old man rather than a teenager. That’s really the only thing that bothered me about the book and the story.
Otherwise, I really did enjoy the story and can’t wait to read more by Phillip Wolf. Jack Stinger and the Haunting of Whitlock Manor is a solid four-star book!
