About I’ll be Waiting
Nicola never expected to see adulthood after being diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a kid. Thankfully, the medical advances have helped her live to her mid-thirties and meet Anton. But months after they got married, Anton died in a terrible car accident. The last thing he says to her is ‘I’ll be waiting for you’. That private moment winds up becoming public and leaves her to be taken advantage of by “psychics” who claim they can give her closure. That is until she meets a professor who was once a skeptic is willing to help her say goodbye. But what will she do when everything seems to be going wrong?
What I thought
So when I first got this boo,k I loved the cover (still do), I loved the synopsis, and it was classified as horror. Let me start by saying that I loved the story. I couldn’t imagine Nicola’s immense guilt knowing that she was the one who was supposed to die first if the accident hadn’t happened. They were planning their lives around her dying first, since he was healthy and she wasn’t. That would probably leave huge survivor’s guilt.
My only thing is that I don’t know if I would classify this as horror. Maybe a Paranormal thriller?
I’ll be waiting is still really good, though. Who knows how we’ll react if the people we love die? Who knows how we’d feel if it were supposed to be us, but instead it winds up being the person we love.
Also, I felt so pissed for Nicola. I would be so pissed if someone took a video of my my husband and I’ls last moment together and then share it on social media. I can imagine that people who do something like this.
There are many creepy aspects to this story, and how the story ends is so much of a surprise to me. I don’t think I was trying to guess how it ended, but when it came, I did start trying to guess a little bit. And guess what?? I got it wrong.
Also, I feel like Kelley does a great job of creating a realistic character. Even the side characters were pretty well done and seemed pretty realistic. I can’t wait to read more by Kelley!
