5 winter books for adults

Winter time seems to be one of the slowest times of the year. Or at least the winter months that don’t deal with the holidays. Now the holidays can either make the time go by really fast for you or really slow for you, depending on how you feel about it. And what better way to kind of distract yourself by reading winter books for adults?

I feel like a lot of us don’t read themed books around certain times of the year. At least I know that I don’t, but I actually want to. But for me, I’ll more than likely be reading Christmas horror books. I’ve never really been big on romance-type books, but I know a lot of you are! So what are some of the best books for winter reading?

Winter reading books for adults

There are tons of books out there with a winter setting, and I know I probably missed quite a few of them. When there are so many, it can be hard to kind of include them all. But, hopefully, out of these 5 winter books for adults, there’s at least one that you would love to read. Surprisingly, there’s actually one or two that I might have to pick up for myself!

The Christmas Fix

Winter books for adults

The Christmas Fix seems like a really good book. Honestly, reading about it kind of makes me think that this would be a great movie. What do you guys think about it?

Here is what The Christmas Fix is about.

Merry, Connecticut, has a late-season hurricane, and now Noah is going to have to tell everyone that there won’t be a Christmas Festival. They are already devastated, and without the Christmas Festival, there won’t be any tourist money. This is such a disaster.

But then Catalina shows up. She’s a very pretty renovation expert, and she’s come with a camera crew and a huge budget that’ll be able to put the town back together. The last time she came around, she stirred up so much trouble, and the people who live there still haven’t stopped talking about the town’s first bar fight. Her being there makes Noah a little bit angry because he doesn’t need a diva showing up and making money off of their tragedy.

But Cat wants to help put Merry back in Christmas mode and leave everyone believing in miracles. Plus, she wants to get her friends back in the home that they love. Unfortunately, there’s one problem, and that’s Noah. He’s not right about her, and she wants to prove it.

Let it Snow

Let it Snow is a book that I haven’t read since high school, or at least maybe sometime after high school. I remember really liking this one.

Back then, I feel like I was a little more lenient when it comes to romance, rather than now, when it’s something that I kind of avoid. The fact that I enjoyed any romance in my lifetime is nothing short of a miracle.

I know you’re probably wondering why this is a part of the winter books for adults when it’s a young adult book. Well, I know a lot of people are still fans of young adult novels. I’m definitely one of them. I figured I’d at least include it just in case!

At least if you read this one, you’ll be able to watch the movie after you finish it!

Here’s what Let it Snow is about.

On Christmas Eve, there’s a snowstorm that transforms a small town into a romantic place. It’s the romantic place that you only see in movies. At least kind of. But no one would expect a cold hike from a stranded train would lead to a kiss from a stranger. You also would think that going to Waffle House in four feet of snow would lead to any sort of love with an old friend. Or that you would be led back to love with an unpleasant early shift at Starbucks.

The Coldest Winter

winter books for adults

I’m going to be honest, The Coldest Winter is probably one of the weirdest winter books for adults. At least I know it’s that way for me because it comes across as a teacher hooking up with one of his students.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, and the main character isn’t exactly a student. But I’m probably just the weirdo and just overthinking this!

Here is what The Coldest Winter is about.

She met Milo during the time he was in his self-destructive era. But he also met her during hers. When they intersect at a college party, they only have one goal in mind and that’s to feel good during thier personal storm.⁣

When they went their separate ways, she hadn’t planned on ever seeing him again. But when she goes to her first day as a student-teacheer, she finds him sitting there in the front of the room.

Now she’s having to be with the person who was only supposed to be a fading memory for her.⁣

The longer that they spend together, the more she starts to feel drawn to him. When his life headed down for the worst, she couldn’t help but lean in closer and help.

She’s always been the good girl and did the right thing. Now, for the first time, she doesn’t want to do that. She wants to fall in love with the person she knows is supposed to be off-limits.

The bad thing about that though is once you go down that path, you’re only bound to crash.⁣

Beartown (winter books for adults)

I’ve only tried reading one of Fredrik Backman’s books, and I was really struggling with it. I don’t even remember why, if I’m honest. Maybe I was just in a reading rut and just struggling to get into it.

With that being said, I might have to try one of his books again, and Bear Town just might be that book.

Here is what Bear Town is about.

People have been saying that Beartown is finished. They are a tiny community deep in the forest, and they are slowly losing their town to the ever-growing trees. Down the road is an ice rink that was built by the men who founded the town. That little ice rink is the reason why the people there believe that tomorrow will be better than today. They also have a great ice hockey team that is about to compete in the national semi-finals. The great thing is that they have a shot at winning. The communities hopes and dreams of their small town rest on the shoulders of those teenage boys.

The fact that they are responsible for the hopes of the entire town is becoming a heavy burden for them. The match is a catalyst for a violent act that’s going to leave a girl traumatised. Accusations are thrown around, and it ripples through the community. No a single person isn’t affected.

The Snowchild

The Snowchild seems like one of the cuter winter books for adults. At least it feels that way for me. And coming from me, that’s a bit of a surprise because I would consider this more of a historical fiction, and I’m not a huge fan of that.

But I’m sure some of you are fans of historical fiction. This one seems to be more of a hopeful book, too.

Here is what The Snow Child is about!

Alaska, 1920: This place is a terrible place to homestead. It’s especially hard on Jack and Mabel, who just got there. They don’t have kids, and they are drifting apart. He’s having a hard time with the weight of work on the farm. She’s having a hard time with loneliness. Out of a moment of despair during the first snowfall, they built a kid out of snow.

But the next morning, the snow kid is gone, but off in the distance, they see a blonde girl running through the trees. She calls herself Faina and comes across as the child of the woods. When she hunts, she has a red fox by her side. She somehow survives alone out in the wilderness.

Jack and Mabel are having a hard time understanding her, especially since she’s the type of girl who could have walked off the pages of a fairy tale. But eventually they start to love her as their own daughter. This place isn’t as it seems, though, and the things they learn about Faina are going to transform all of them.

It’s about time that us adults should start reading themed books. If you’re anything like me, then maybe reading them will get you in the spirit for the holidays instead of being the Grinch we might be.
